- Previous Experience Required:
High School diploma required, or equivalent
Prefer 1-3 years previous supervisory experience in Security field or customer service
Specialized or Technical Education Required:
Must attain IAHSS Basic and Supervisor certifications within 3 months of hire into position.
Incumbent will be trained as required, attend in-services and meetings as required
Must exhibit excellent communication skills (oral and written)
Must possess the ability to think on one’s feet and make quick decisions
Knowledge of restraining, State and Federal criminal codes, universal precautions, PPE, MOAB, etc

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities
1. Briefs Security officers on upcoming shift activity
2. Leads and monitors staff assigned to his/her shift.
3. Responsible for monitoring the electronic surveillance equipment
4. Responsible for proximity access control system
5. Assisting Security Manager with annual evaluations of staff, when requested
6. Responsible for initial evaluation training development and written compliance exam for officers assigned to his/her shift
7. Responsible for monitoring required license and certificates of officers assigned to his/her shift
8. Monitor recertification in required courses, when requested
9. Participate in interviews with applicants and make recommendations to Security Department leadership, when requested
10. Inspects uniforms and notes any discrepancies
11. Gives officers post assignments and schedule for meals/breaks, when requested
12. Inspects radios for operation problems
13. Interacts with Nursing Supervisor to resolve problems
14. Inspects security equipment and video surveillance equipment and reports problems to Security Department leadership
15. Supervises work of Security Sergeant, Officers, Dispatchers assigned to his/her shift, when requested. In addition, resolves any shift problems or conflicts
16. Is responsible for ensuring adequate staff daily and report any issues to Security Captain
17. Is flexible and able to work when shifts are short of personnel
18. Is responsible to assist Security Department leadership in the preparation of monthly shift schedules, when requested
19. Reviews shift reports and follows up with officers to ensure compliance with shift requirement
20. Encourage personnel to keep lines of communication open and to provide security personnel with opportunities to discuss issues and concerns
21. Participates in formal disciplinary actions against security personnel, when requested
22. Participates in training programs as directed by the Security Department leadership
23. Completes reports as requested in a timely manner
24. Recommends operational improvements to Security Department leadership
25. Attends meetings and conducts in-services as directed
26. Conducts security patrols and other duties in rotation with officers on each shift
27. Monitors security forms and equipment inventory to ensure that sufficient quantities are available
28. Is open and accessible to personnel under his/her supervision
29. Fairly/consistently enforces all hospital and departmental policies and procedures

41. Follows North Oaks Health System’s compliance programs and all federal and state regulatory guidelines
42. Ensures reports are written in a timely manner and proper follow-up conducted
43. Ensures vehicle maintenance checklist is completed and deficiencies reported and/or corrected
44. Ensures valuable are accounted for and secured upon receipt
