Methodist Home for Children is hiring a Teacher for our Eastern Area Juvenile Crisis & Assessment Center in Kinston. If you’re an experienced middle or high school educator who believes in second chances and individualized learning, this is your opportunity to make a life-changing impact.
What You’ll Do
Plan and deliver flexible, innovative instruction tailored to each youth’s academic level and needs
Utilize both traditional and technology-based learning tools
Prepare detailed lesson plans and maintain accurate records of attendance, academic progress, and social performance
Provide official transcripts of work completed during residency
Collaborate with residential staff to support individualized treatment plans and promote academic success within a therapeutic setting
Youth reside at the Center for approximately 4–6 weeks, so your ability to assess quickly, adapt instruction, and build rapport matters.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching experience (middle and/or high school)
Valid North Carolina teaching certification preferred
Flexibility, creativity, and a passion for working with at-risk youth
Who We Are
Operated by Methodist Home for Children in partnership with the Department of Public Safety, our residential assessment center serves up to 12 Level II youth (ages 10–17) at a time. Our mission is to provide comprehensive assessments that connect youth with the most appropriate services in their home communities.
