Position Summary:
The Arc is seeking for a CNA to be responsible for supporting individual(s) with developmental disabilities whose medical needs are complex. The CNA primarily provides assistance to the individuals in the areas of delegated medical treatment, personal care, meal preparation and feeding, lifting and transferring (when applicable), and most activities of daily living. Responsibilities also include developing linkages to the community through recreation planning, transportation, and accompaniment to community-based events.

Here’s a Snapshot of What You’ll Be Doing Day-to-Day:
Personal Care
Work alongside a delegating nurse, Community Living Specialist (CLS), and Program Manager to ensure quality healthcare for individuals.
Provide assistance and training in personal grooming and hygiene, including toileting, oral care, bathing, dressing, feeding, and lifting/transferring (as needed).
Dispense medications and administer medical treatments as required.
Reposition individuals to promote comfort and skin integrity, according to their care plans.
Assist individuals in selecting appropriate and comfortable clothing.
Financial Management
Support individuals with banking and purchases, following The Arc’s resident funds policy.
Manage and reconcile petty cash according to agency procedures.
Home Operation & Maintenance
Change bed linens and assist with laundry.
Clean and maintain individuals’ rooms and common areas.
Perform light household maintenance and ensure the home is clean, safe, and welcoming.
Communication & Documentation
Communicate respectfully and frequently with individuals and their families/support teams.
Document progress toward goals (Individual Outcomes), as well as daily activities using Twinsis.
Submit timely, legible, and accurate reports and logs.
Observe and record behaviors and physical changes such as eating and bowel patterns.
Understand and consistently implement Behavior Support Plans and Person-Centered Plans.
Professionalism
Model appropriate workplace conduct aligned with The Arc’s values.
Maintain confidentiality related to individuals and fellow staff.
Serve as a positive role model in both personal and professional behavior.
Mental, Physical & Visual Demands
Must be able to perform a two-person lift or assist in lifting individuals of medium build.
May be exposed to bodily fluids or tissues; proper protective equipment is provided and required.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a residential home environment.
Must be able to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
