Project Overview
Court Technology Services (CTS) is delivering a multi-initiative Cybersecurity Program to strengthen the security posture of Alberta Courts. This includes enhancements across security architecture, vulnerability management, threat & risk assessments, incident response, and governance/policy frameworks within a judicial environment.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver multiple cybersecurity initiatives end-to-end (planning → execution → transition).
- Provide risk-based security architecture leadership across network, cloud, applications, identity, and data.
- Drive implementation of:
- Enterprise vulnerability management
- Threat & Risk Assessment (TRA) frameworks
- IMSS (Information Management & Security Services) onboarding
- Security control optimization (firewalls, tools, etc.)
- Enterprise vulnerability management
- Develop and operationalize incident response playbooks and lead readiness exercises.
- Advance cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures within a judicial environment.
- Prepare executive-level briefings translating technical risks into business impacts.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across legal, procurement, finance, IT, and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with public-sector, privacy (FOIP), and security requirements.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI/automation in cybersecurity.
Mandatory Requirements
Certifications & Education
- Active cybersecurity certification (CISSP, CISM, CISA, GIAC, ISC2, ISACA, etc.)
- Post-secondary degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field
- Willingness to undergo Enhanced Security Clearance (incl. criminal + credit check)
Experience
- 8–10+ years in IT/security, including 5+ years in a senior/project leadership role
- 5+ years:
- Secure architecture (network, cloud, application, identity, data)
- Working with NIST CSF, ISO 27001 frameworks
- Enterprise security tools (Azure AD/Entra, Defender, SIEM, etc.)
- Stakeholder management across business and technical teams

- 3+ years:
- Incident response planning & execution
- Threat Risk Assessments (TRA)
- Incident response planning & execution
- Strong communication skills (technical → non-technical translation)
- Must be able to work 100% on-site in Edmonton
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- PMP Certification
- Experience with:
- Cloud architecture (Azure, Snowflake, AI/ML integration)
- Privacy impact & security risk coordination
- Enterprise vulnerability management setup
- Public sector or court/judicial environments
- FOIP and government compliance frameworks
- Cybersecurity policy development and implementation

Work Details
- Hours: 36.25/week (Mon–Fri, 08:15–16:30 MST)
- On-site Requirement: 5 days/week (mandatory)
- Work must be performed within Canada
