Job Description

Graders for STEM courses at UW Bothell, Spring 2026

UW Bothell offers student employment opportunities to help prepare students by providing practical work experience.  Students are provided professional development and mentoring to develop skills to support post-graduation employment preparation and success.

Faculty in the School of STEM, Engineering & Mathematics Department, will need graders/readers for their Spring 2026 courses. See the Application Instructions for how to apply. Note: As all positions are subject to course enrollment, this course list may change between now and the start of the quarter. Positions remain open until filled.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Graders:  Following the UW Classification Description for Reader/Grader, graders provide diverse services as course assistants, which will normally include grading student papers and examinations. Grader duties may also include: attendance at lectures, office hours, consultation with instructors, and other duties as assigned. Graders may not perform teaching duties.

The faculty supervisor will provide specific details about the duties related to each course and the number of allocated grading or facilitating hours prior to the start of your appointment.

These positions are eligible for work study.

Hours per week: 1–10 (to be determined)

Hourly pay rate:

  • Graders:
    • Undergraduate student rate—$22.65/hour
    • Graduate student rate—$24.15/hour

Estimated work period: Approximately on/after March 30, 2026 - June 16, 2026


  • Successfully completed the course or have strong knowledge in the area in which you are applying to be a grader or facilitator.
  • Must be a currently registered UW student in the current hiring quarter (Spring 2026), taking at least 6 credits if an undergraduate or 5 credits if a graduate student.  

Note: If you are or will be working elsewhere on campus, be aware that students are limited to working a combined total of 19.5 hours per week, or 19 hours if work study, in all campus jobs when you are enrolled in classes.

Please Note:

  • Student hourly employees are limited to working 19.5 hours per workweek during a quarter in which the student is enrolled but may work more than 19.5 hours per workweek during school breaks or when “on leave.”
  • All new student employees must also complete UW's online Title IX course about preventing and responding to sex-and gender-based violence and harassment.
  • After a student is selected for employment, they will receive information about completing employment prerequisites.  See STEM Prospective Student Employee FAQs for more information.
