Job Description Summary

Organization's Summary Statement:

91.3 WESM, on the campus of the University of Maryland Eastern, invites applicants to apply for the position of Production and Operations Specialist. This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits. The position may involve working weekends, early mornings and/or evenings in the event of broadcast or system issues.

Salary Information: $45,000- $55,000.

Responsibilities:
• Work in collaboration with or at the direction of the Chief Content Officer to
produce stations Id’s, underwriting, membership and other spots for
broadcast. Assist with the production of new programming for broadcast
on our three FM stations.
• Understand all broadcasting and production infrastructure and systems to
be able to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Must have strong knowledge of the operation and troubleshooting of ENCO
automation systems for our three stations. Help maintain weekly broadcast
schedules and manage various content platforms.
• Work with NPR’s Content Depot and satellite services to schedule, deliver
and broadcast programming and/or underwriting.
• Serve as a liaison to station’s engineers concerning troubleshooting and
daily operations.
• Maintain and oversee the digital streaming presence and online repository
of locally produced programming.
• Coordinate with assist the Traffic Department in the integration and
implementation of daily program logs for both automated and live
programming.
• FCC compliance: help to maintain the required quarterly public files for
Delmarva Public Media.
• Serve as a back-up for on-air traffic process including Air Table, FCC-
approved scripts and more.
• May working with various student journalists, freelance reporters and/or
independent producers to create content on a weekly basis for broadcast.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
• May require extended periods of standing, bending, stooping, sitting at
desk.
• May require lifting.
• Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally and
internally.
• Requires operation of a variety of office equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of experience.

Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of ENCO Automations.

Skill in audio production.

Skill in spot and program production.

Skill in the use of Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, or similar digital audio workstation (DAW) platforms.

Skill in scriptwriting.

Skill in developing and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships.

Skill in organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple tasks.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
