    Position Summary:
    A preschool teacher is responsible for leading classroom activities of young children between the age of three and five. Duties include actively engaging with children to foster a positive and healthy learning environment, conducting student assessments and providing reports and feedback on performance and behavior to parents. 
     
     
    Qualifications: 

    • Have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (may have additional advanced degrees) and a Kansas Teacher License.
    • Accept the responsibility of assigned tasks.
    • Be able to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents using proper grammar and vocabulary.
    • Be able to perform simple classroom tasks proficiently.
    • Patient, compassionate attitude,  with a friendly, energetic disposition.
    • Have the ability to maintain discipline in the school setting.
    • Be punctual in all assignments.

     
    General Responsibilities: .

    • Plan comprehensive curriculums to address early childhood development needs.
    • Installing a sense of order and discipline in the classroom
    • Ensure the classroom is a clean, safe, and organized environment.
    • Instruct students according to prepared lesson plans.
    • Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
    • Supervise the playground, as assigned by the principal.
    • When necessary, supervise students in the lunch area, gym, lavatories, library, and other designated areas.
    • Perform duties to meet the safety and personal care of students.
    • Observe all district policies.
    • Facilitate small-group learning activities.
    • Supervise all student arrivals to and dismissals from the classroom.
    • Exhibit total confidentiality in matters relating to students.
    • The teacher, if itinerant, must have a vehicle for transporting from job site to job site.
    • Perform relevant duties as assigned by the building principal.

     
    Physical Requirements/ Environmental Conditions:                      

    • Sitting and standing.
    • Repetitive wrist motion.
    • Physical exertion including bending, twisting, and turning.
    • Occasional lifting and moving objects of up to thirty pounds.
    • Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
    • Occasional interaction among unruly students.
