Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Children and Families, the Youth Development Coordinator will provide entry-level support to a team working with First Nations youth. The Youth Development Coordinator will also assist with the implementation of various workshops and events throughout the summer. This position is designed for a post-secondary student who will be returning to school in September 2026.

 

Key Responsibilities


  • Assist staff in establishing rapport with youth and families through regular contact while maintaining healthy boundaries.

  • Work with staff to support youth in completing the intake process.

  • Ensure that youth have support with short- and long-term planning.

  • Help facilitate workshops designed to meet the needs of participants and create opportunities for healing, cultural awareness, life skills, and employment skills development.

  • Assist the team in identifying and accessing resources related to housing, education, employment, training, treatment, etc.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Education & Experience


  • Must be a post-secondary student returning to school in September 2026.

  • Knowledge of First Nations issues related to the child welfare, justice, education and health care systems.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Adherence to office practices, procedures, and confidentiality.

  • Able to work flexible hours and travel upon request.

  • Valid Class 5F Driver’s License and reliable vehicle considered an asset.

  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
