Job Title: Adjunct Faculty Teacher Education: Visual Arts Education


Reporting Relationship: Academic Chair, School of Teacher Education


Department: Education-IWUM


Campus Location: Marion, Indiana





Summary of Position:    Adjunct faculty are essential to providing a quality academic experience for Indiana Wesleyan University students. Visual Arts Education adjunct faculty will employ a range of engaging teaching strategies designed to foster student learning and stimulate class discussion. Applicants must have visual arts content knowledge and art-specific pedagogical experience, demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning and be able to integrate their Christian faith into the classroom content.


Duties and Responsibilities



  • Attend and lead all required class sessions 

  • Promptly assess student coursework and submit via Brightspace (the university’s learning management system) 

  • Coordinate with Division Chair and/or Academic Dean regarding classroom or student issues in a timely manner 


Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.






Education



  • Degree in Education; Master’s degree preferred

  • Certified educator


Experience



  • Significant P-12 Visual Arts classroom teaching experience

  • Prior undergraduate teaching experience preferred


Required Skills



  • Commitment to teaching excellence within a Christ-centered academic community

  • Mature personal faith in Jesus Christ and willingness to embrace the theological and lifestyle commitments of the Wesleyan Church
