Job Description

General Statement of Duties

The MRI Technologist is responsible for explaining the MRI procedure to patients, preparing patients for the procedure, and positioning them for the best possible outcome.

Part Time

  • Schedule 1- Thursday and Fridays 8am-7pm 
  • Schedule 2- Weekends only

Essential Functions

  • Performs MRI imaging procedures on appropriate anatomical regions following accepted standards of practice and protocols.
  • Completes and signs necessary forms and explains the procedure to the patient.
  • Maintains patient care, comfort, and safety during transport to and from the coach and the exam.
  • Maintains technical competency through continued education.
  • Administers contrast agents according to site-specific protocols.
  • Cooperates with facility healthcare personnel and complies with facility policies and procedures.
  • Maintains current Permits to Practice in all states in which services are performed.
  • Provide images to the facility in the desired site format.
  • Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems. Calls for service and notifies all pertinent team members
  • May assist with the setup and tear down of equipment following SMS and/or manufacturers’ guidelines.
  • Maintains a clean environment inside and outside of the facility.
  • Completes necessary administrative tasks.
  • Follows quality assurance guidelines and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Complies with all safety policies and regulations.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Education & Requirements

  • Radiographer certification required.

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an MRI Tech.

Requirements 

  • Radiographer certification required.

Knowledge

  • Medical terminology.
  • Principles and practices of diagnostic radiographic procedures.
  • Basic chemistry, film apparatus, and film processing techniques.
  • Knowledge of how diseases and injuries are diagnosed and imaged radiographically.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong customer service.
  •  Strong attention-to-detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Lift and position patients for the type of MRI procedure required.
  • Notice detail in drawings and differences in shapes and shadings.
  • Keep and maintain records.

Physical Demands

  • Sedentary work, with occasional walking.
  • Must be able to lift as some patients may have to be lifted and/or turned.
