Job Description

About the Department

Monday-Friday 2pm-6pm during school year, occasional weekends 

Assists the Program Leader and Program Supervisor with recreation activities by performing the following duties.

Position Duties

The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Other duties may be assigned. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.

Assists participants: checks participants in; collects fees and issue receipts; issues recreational equipment to participants; takes information for new memberships and prepares ID cards.

Provides clerical assistance: answers telephone and provides information and/or answers questions; maintains name and address file on all center participants; keeps daily log of attendance; assists with maintenance of center bulletin board.
  
Performs janitorial duties: dusts, mops, sweeps, vacuums, cleans windows, etc.; changes light bulbs in gym ceiling and other areas; maintains grounds by picking up trash and litter, mowing, and raking leaves; assists Center Director with pool maintenance and cleaning as needed.    
 
Performs manual labor tasks: sets up and takes down 6' and 8' folding tables and chairs; lifts and moves weights, gymnastic equipment, and other furnishings.                                     
 
Assists with recreational activities: instructs participants in rules and objectives of various games and sports; monitors and helps with special events and activities; recreational activities to include sports, games, arts and crafts, education, and healthy living.

  • High School Diploma (copy of diploma or transcript required with application).
  • Six (6) months of related recreation experience.
  • Valid AR class D driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:

The work is closely controlled, either by a supervisor or by the structured nature of the work. For both one-of a kind and repetitive tasks the supervisor makes specific assignments that are accompanied by clear, detailed, and specific instructions. The worker consults with the supervisor as needed on all matters not specifically covered in the original instructions or guidelines. The supervisor reviews most work. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

None.

COMPLEXITY:

The work consists of tasks that are clear-cut and directly related; there is little or no choice to be made in deciding what needs to be done; actions to be taken or responses to be made are readily discernible; the work is quickly mastered.

GUIDELINES:

Specific, detailed guidelines covering all important aspects of the assignment are provided; authorization is needed for deviations. There is no choice in deciding what needs to be done and very little choice in how the task is to be done.
