POSITION INFORMATION: BASIC DETAILS


Location: Surprise, AZ

Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly

Travel Requirement: Yes

Teleworking: No

Pay: $33.40/hr. ($28.31/hr. base rate + $5.09 H&W)

*Pay rates listed reflect the full rate for this position, including both the base pay and health and welfare benefits in accordance with applicable requirements. Pay is based on numerous factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS


Position Overview:

In this role, you will provide direct patient care and medical support services within an immigration and custodial facility. Your primary focus will be assisting in the delivery of healthcare services to the resident population, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient conditions, and supporting the medical team in maintaining a safe, secure, and humane healthcare environment. You must possess strong clinical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to respond effectively in emergency or high-stress situations while maintaining professionalism and compassion.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or medical provider in accordance with applicable standards and protocols.
  • Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and immunizations while maintaining accurate medication records and documentation.
  • Monitor patients’ physical and mental health conditions and promptly report significant changes or concerns to the appropriate medical personnel.
  • Conduct intake health screenings, vital sign assessments, and routine medical evaluations in accordance with facility procedures.
  • Assist with emergency medical response procedures, including first aid, CPR, and stabilization efforts as required.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely medical records and documentation in compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
  • Ensure proper infection control practices, safety procedures, and sanitation standards are consistently followed within the medical unit.
  • Coordinate with custody staff, medical providers, and support personnel to ensure continuity of care and safe resident movement for medical appointments and treatment.
  • Maintain proficiency in required clinical skills, certifications, and medical protocols through ongoing training and compliance requirements.
  • Support the overall operation of the medical department while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to ethical standards.


Qualifications:

  • Must possess a current and unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Arizona.
  • Must possess a CPR/BLS certification.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of Licensed Practical Nurse experience.
  • Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
  • If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
  • Must consent to fingerprinting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.


Work Environment:

Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.


Physical Requirements:

Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
