Job Description

Controller

Lincoln, NE | Full-Time | On-Site
Construction Industry

Why This Role Matters

This is a key role on our team.

As our Controller, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the company while also helping us stay ahead of where we’re going. You’ll own the numbers, make sure everything is accurate, and give leadership clear insight into how we’re performing.

If you like being hands-on, digging into details, and building structure in a growing company, this is a great fit.

What You’ll Do

You’ll oversee the core accounting functions including AP, AR, payroll, and monthly close, making sure everything is accurate, timely, and running smoothly. This includes reviewing invoices, managing reconciliations (bank, credit cards, etc.), and keeping our financial records clean and up to date.

A big part of this role is construction accounting. You’ll work closely with Project Managers to ensure job costing is accurate, help set up new jobs and budgets, maintain WIP reporting, and make sure change orders are reflected correctly. You’ll also review budget vs. actuals and help explain what’s driving the numbers.

You’ll manage cash flow and support budgeting, making sure we have a clear picture of where we stand and what’s ahead. On the compliance side, you’ll handle things like use tax, property tax, and other reporting requirements, along with maintaining our internal procedures.

This role also includes oversight of payroll and our AP function, so you’ll be leading and supporting those processes to make sure they’re consistent and done right.

What Success Looks Like

  • Financials are accurate, clean, and reliable
  • Strong visibility into job costs and project performance
  • Cash flow is managed and there are no surprises
  • Processes are organized and scalable as we grow
  • Leadership trusts the numbers and uses them to make decisions

What You Bring

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA is a plus, not required
  • Experience in a Controller or senior accounting role
  • Construction or project-based accounting experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of job costing and WIP
  • Comfortable in Excel and accounting systems
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to follow things through
  • Someone who takes ownership and communicates well with the team

Why Join Us

This is a high-impact role where you’ll have visibility, ownership, and the ability to help shape how we operate financially. If you’re looking for a place where your work actually matters, this is it.
