    Primary Purpose:

    Under moderate supervision, coordinate the collection and reporting of district Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) data.

    Qualifications:

    Education/Certification

    • Some college preferred
    • PEIMS certification or TEA training (preferred)

    Special Knowledge & Skills

    • Deep understanding of PEIMS and Texas reporting requirements
    • Strong knowledge of student information systems and data processes
    • Ability to interpret laws, policies, and technical guidance
    • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving ability
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to train and support staff
    • Ability to manage deadlines in a high-stakes, compliance-driven environment

    Experience

    • 3�5+ years of PEIMS, student data, or school district data systems experience
    • Experience with TSDS (Texas Student Data System) strongly preferred
    • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred

     

    Major Responsibilities and Duties

    1. Data Leadership & Compliance

    • Direct and oversee all PEIMS submissions (Fall, Mid-Year, Summer, Extended Year)
    • Ensure full compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements and timelines
    • Monitor data accuracy across student, staff, finance, and program records
    • Interpret and implement updates to PEIMS Data Standards and state law
    • Oversee attendance accounting in alignment with the Texas Student Attendance Accounting Handbook

    2. Systems Management

    • Serve as the district lead for the Student Information System (SIS) and PEIMS-related platforms
    • Coordinate with technology staff to maintain system integrity, security, and integrations
    • Develop validation processes, error-check protocols, and submission checklists
    • Oversee year-end rollover and system transitions

    3. Training & Capacity Building

    • Train campus registrars, secretaries, counselors, and administrators on PEIMS coding and procedures
    • Provide clear, practical guidance tailored to a rural district's staffing realities
    • Build user-friendly systems and expectations that promote accuracy at the point of entry
    • Serve as liaison with the regional Education Service Center (ESC) and TEA

    4. Accountability & Decision Support

    • Provide leadership with timely reports on enrollment, attendance, special programs, and trends
    • Translate data into insights that support staffing, scheduling, and funding decisions
    • Support state and federal accountability measures through accurate reporting
    • Lead and coordinate responses to audits and data validations

    5. Collaboration & District Impact

    • Work closely with principals, business office, HR, and special programs
    • Foster a culture of shared ownership of data quality
    • Support district initiatives by aligning data systems with instructional goals
    • Communicate complex requirements in a clear, supportive, and solutions-oriented manner
