TITLE:  Business Coordinator 


EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Twelve (12) Months


SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Classified Salary Exempt


GENERAL STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:


At Red Mesa Unified School District, the Business Coordinator is responsible in overseeing and administer the business affairs of the district in a manner that ensures compliance with all federal and state laws, including, but not limited to, the USFRs and Federal Impact Aid requirements while ensuring that all financial resources are spent to maximize students’ success. This position assist in maintaining all fiscal accounts and all inventory; organizes and assists in supervising the business office operations; ensures proper accounting of receipts and disbursements; manages insurance coverages and claims; assists in overseeing payroll, accounts payable, prepares and submits reports as required by federal, state, and local entities, and works with federal programs to assist with budgeting and reporting compliance for federal programs


 


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:



  • Responsible for offering advice to the Superintendent on policy regarding finance and general running of the school budget and operations 

  • Will ensure compliance with District Policy, ARS Title 15 and the Uniform System of Financial Records (USFR) and Federal Impact Aid requirements.

  • Responsible for managing the finance and account of the school district. Advice on budgetary control; ensuring the effective use of resources; Bank Accounts; Budgeting; Fund Accounting; Accounting records; Cash; Supplies Inventory; Fixed Assets; Revenues; Expenditures; Payroll; Travel; Financial reporting; Audit requirements; Electronic data processing; Cooperative agreements and regional services; Student attendance reporting; Records management; Food service fund; Auxiliary operations fund; and student activities fund.

  • Responsible for budgetary and fiscal compliance, financial reporting, bookkeeping and the other financial duties of the school district including but not limited to ensuring the paying of salaries

  • Works in coordination with the Federal Programs Director to assist in the budgeting and reporting required for the District’s federal programs and grants.

  • Provides leadership, develops and trains staff on all aspects of the business office operation. Works to continually improve business office operations and develop all staff members.

  • As directed, conducts staff meetings as needed to interpret changes in Board Policy or administrative rules, to discuss developments, and to evaluate trends in support services and business affairs as they pertain to the areas of budgeting, finance or other assigned responsibilities.

  • Provides continuous information to the proper staff members concerning the status of their budgetary accounts to guard against the overspending of any budgeted account.

  • Provides financial assistance and oversight on federal and state grants to all stakeholders; this includes all required financial reporting.

  • Arranges for the internal auditing of school accounts and reconciles all bank accounts maintained by the District.

  • Monitors all purchase requisitions to determine accuracy of information, price extensions, coding information, etc.

  • Apprises Superintendent of need to formally bid in a timely manner. Will be responsible for all compliance.

  • Oversees purchases by competitive bidding, written, and verbal quotations and negotiations, and/or from cooperative contracts and ensures compliance with the Arizona Administrative Code and the USFR.

  • Provides Superintendent and Governing Board with-data to assist with setting of staff wages, salaries, and benefits.

  • Contribute effectively to the strategic direction of the institution 


 


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma/GED; Administrative technology certificate or an associate's degree is preferred

  • Degree in accounting or related field preferred.

  • Accurate and meticulous in data entry


 


EXPERIENCE:  At least three (3) years job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired. Have experience working in a multicultural/rural; Navajo or Native American Preferred.


LICENSE:   Valid Driver's License
