Qualifications:  


1.   Two years of college or Associate Degree


2.  Pass score on work-keys


3.  Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.




  1.  





  • Follow school board policy and rules and regulations.

  • Administer, score, and record such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommend for individual students.

  • Work with individual students or small group of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.

  • Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing materials or skills.

  • Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.

  • Help student master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.

  • Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.

  • Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.

  • Keep bulletin board and other classroom learning displays up-to-date.

  • Assist with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and story-telling

  • Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication with students.

  • Assist students in the library or media center.

  • Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and make-up work as assigned by the teacher.

  • Check and record student attendance.

  • Collect and record collection of money.

  • Help students with their clothing.

  • Assist with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.

  • Alert the regular teacher to any problem or special information about individual students.

  • Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.

  • Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.

  • Participate in in-service training programs as assigned.

  • Participate in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.

  • Foster good eating habits and table manners in children.

  • Assist teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.

  • Assist with supervision of children during regular play periods.

  • Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher, Principal, Assistant Principal, and Superintendent.


 


 


 


Terms of Employment:  Salary and work schedule will be established by the board.


 


Evaluation:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
