We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Door Technician to join our Facilities Team in Poway, CA!

In this role, you will primarily be responsibility for the installation, maintenance, and repair of doors and gates throughout our campus. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, security, and operational efficiency of our facilities by maintaining all door and gate systems in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations.

While doors and gates are your primary focus, facilities operations is a dynamic environment where priorities can shift rapidly based on operational needs, emergencies, and organizational demands.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

Installation and Repair
  • Install, repair, and service a variety of door and gate systems, including:
    •  Automatic sliding doors
    •  High-speed doors
    •  Remote-controlled gates
    •  Rolling shutters
    •  Electronic door openers
    •  Mechanical door systems
Maintenance Operations
  •  Maintain and service door and gate components including rollers, metal tracks, springs, cables, pulleys, and electronic door openers
  •  Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on assigned door and gate systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity
  •  Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues before they result in system failures
Technical Services
  •  Assist with servicing, modification, rebuilding, and repairing facility doors and gates in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations
  •  Perform door and gate repairs across different types of commercial facilities as assigned
  •  Troubleshoot mechanical and electronic issues to determine root causes and implement effective solutions
  •  Respond to emergency repair requests in a timely manner to minimize operational disruptions
Documentation and Compliance
  •  Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and installations performed
  •  Ensure all work complies with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and company standards
  •  Document parts usage and maintain inventory of commonly used components

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent, military class C school or Military Occupation Specialty (MOS), and five or more years of progressive experience as an apprentice plumber, HVAC mechanic, or in facilities maintenance with specific experience in door and gate systems, or equivalent trade-specific experience working for a door/gate installation or service company.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical and electronic door/gate systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
  • Working knowledge of applicable building codes and safety regulations
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between campus locations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical certification in door systems or related field
  • Experience with automated access control systems
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • OSHA safety certification
