    Special Education Instructional Classroom Assistant  

     

    The position of a Special Education Instructional Classroom Assistant will be availableat East Central ISD for the 2026-2027 school year.  All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. The deadline for submitting an application is until the position is filled.

    PRIMARY PURPOSE:  Help meet the physical and instructional needs of individual students with disabilities inside and outside the classroom.  Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP), including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs.  Work under the general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of a certified teacher.  


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    1. Assist the assigned teacher in general, supportive, and specialized instructional classroom services in designated settings.
    2. Assist teacher in instructional media preparation and usage.
    3. Duplicate instructional materials for teachers.
    4. Be willing to attend training as needed.
    5. Have regular attendance.
    6. Assist students, when necessary, in classroom settings outside the classroom.
    7. Assist with the physical needs of individual students and/or implement behavior plans.
    8. Maintain confidentiality.
    9. Perform other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

    Education/Certification:
    High school diploma or GED
    Must have one of the following:

    • 48 college hours with some emphasis on child growth or development or related area
    • Treasuring our Paraprofessionals certificate
    • Associate's degree, two years of study at an institution of higher learning, or have met formal academic assessment as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

    Valid Texas educational aide certificate
    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, collaborative, and interpersonal skills
    Must perform duties with a minimum supervision
    Ability to communicate  


    EQUIPMENT USED:  Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals, standard instructional equipment  

    WORKING CONDITIONS:  Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions.  Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling, carrying, and running.  Frequent walking and reaching.  Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds or over) and positioning for students with physical disabilities, controlling behavior through physical restraint, assisting non-ambulatory students, and lifting and moving adaptive and other classroom equipment.  Work inside and outside (exposure to the sun, heat, cold and inclement weather); exposure to noise; exposure to biological hazards.
