Job Description

Position: Assistant Cross Country Coach (SY 26-27) (Stipend) 


Department: Athletics 


Reports to: Director of Athletics              


Affiliation: Unit A, Section F 


Salary range: $3,365- $3,974 Stipend


Time Commitment:



  • The team meets six days a week

  • The hours are about 15-20 hours per week

  • The team has one meeting per week

  • Season Length- 8/24/2025-11/9/2025


Number of Positions: 1


This is a stipend position


 


SUMMARY:


The Watertown Public Schools seeks an outstanding assistant coach to coach the cross country team for the 2025-2026 school year. WPS is dedicated to excellence, equity, and community. Be a part of creating a bright future for WPS students. 


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Coach the team they are assigned to.

  • Assume the duties of the head coach when the head coach is not present.

  • Assist in coaching at practice and games.

  • Implement practice plans.

  • Oversee scouting of opposition.

  • Be a liaison between the captains and the head coach.

  • Coordinate with the athletic office on rostering, awards, and medical issues.


 


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • CPR Certified

  • NFHS concussion course completed


 


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills
