GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
To ensure the health and safety of students, staff and the general public by ensuring the cleanliness and efficient  operation of school facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 
A.  MAINTENANCE DUTIES

• Completes assigned preventive maintenance and repair work orders in the district, for mechanical, electrical and building systems;
• Performs facilities maintenance and repairs such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, drywall, and roofing as assigned;
• May assist custodians with furniture and equipment moving for cleaning and special events;
• Monitors school facilities on a regular basis to determine the type of repairs and maintenance required;
• Assists with monitoring for and compliance with all applicable codes and regulations;
• Operates tractors and other heavy equipment;
• May test and maintain records and maps of all gas mains and service lines;
• Participates in various training sessions to upgrade skills;
• Utilizes blueprints and general operating manuals in the performance of duties;
• Performs other duties as assigned.

B.  GROUNDS DUTIES

• Installs and repairs irrigation systems;
• Mows grass, trims trees and other plants;
• Maintains grounds equipment;
• Conducts safety inspections of playground equipment and makes repairs as needed;
• Removes debris from drives, parking lots, sidewalks and other areas as required;
• Removes trash and litter from grounds;
• Prepares athletic fields for events;
• Performs other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
 
A.  REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Two years of experience in related field;
• Ability to communicate and work well with staff and the general public;
• Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license.  

B.  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift 75 lbs. without assistance.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE:  In accordance with provisions specified in Governing Board policy.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Maintenance Supervisor/Grounds Supervisor
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:  None.
