Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in medical technology, including at least one year of appropriate clinical educaiton. Certification or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science by a recognized certifying agency is required.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Train general lab employees on how to prepare reagents, assemble equipment: verify correct instrument operation. Train lab personnel on how to identify unusual results or abnormalities: identify discrepancies and take prompt appropriate action to assure accuracy: solve problems and refers results.
- Instructs and supervises other supportive personnel at MRHC Clinics.
- Play key role in appropriate test method selection.
- Designs and monitors appropriate record systems and effective quality assurance system and solves problems by orderly and appropriate processes. Trouble shoots procedure and equipment. Quality Control program established and maintained.
- Ensure enrollment of all physician laboratories in a CMS approved proficiency testing program for testing that is performed.
Mathematical skills:
SKilled with clinical laboratory tools and techniques, such as statistical laboratory quality control practices.
The following tasks are routinely performed that involve possible contact with blood and other body fluids: cleaning up of contaminated area, handling waste, instrument cleaning, instrument maintenance, specimen accessioning, specimen collection, specimen handling/transport, specimen shipping, specimen storing, specimen testing, venipuncture, skin puncture.
