Job Description

Position Overview



The Patient Account Representative for OrthoMed Anesthesia is responsible for delivering exceptional service to patients with inquiries related to anesthesia billing. This role plays a critical part in the revenue cycle by assisting patients with questions about charges, payment plans, insurance coverage, and account balances, while ensuring accurate, timely, and professional communication. This is a full-time position based at our corporate office in Addison, TX, reporting to the VP of Revenue. The role requires on-site presence during regular business hours.



 



 



Key Responsibilities




  • Respond to inbound and outbound patient calls regarding anesthesia billing, payment arrangements, insurance benefits, and balances

  • Clearly and professionally explain charges and payment responsibilities to patients

  • Verify and update patient demographics, insurance information, and payment status within the billing system

  • Process patient payments and update account records

  • Escalate complex account issues to appropriate billing or management team members

  • Collaborate with billing and coding teams to clarify documentation or resolve discrepancies

  • Respond to patient inquiries through email, voicemail, and the patient portal

  • Accurately document all patient interactions in the system

  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and OrthoMed’s privacy and security policies




  • Assist with patient statement processing, refunds, and follow-up on balance billing issues

  • Support special projects, audits, and claim follow-up tasks as needed

  • Other duties as assigned



 



Qualifications




  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • 1–3 years of experience in medical billing or patient customer service; anesthesia or surgical billing experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of insurance plans, CPT/HCPCS codes, medical terminology, and EOBs

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficient in billing software systems and Microsoft Office applications

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required
