The Assistant Business Development Manager, eCommerce is responsible for the development and growth of Amazon. This role reports directly to a Business Development Manager.  This is a customer facing role that leads day-to-day sales management activities.  This person must be able to foster relationships and communication with key decision-makers. 

The ABDM is responsible for creating actionable revenue-generating and cost-saving opportunities.  This person will need to create solutions by being creative and using analytical data, including competition analysis.  They will also lead catalog and channel management, identifying sales opportunities, reporting & analytics, project management, and ultimately increasing revenue.

This role will incorporate the understanding of key business drivers in collaboration with cross functional teams, while accommodating customer-specific variables. This role will deliver measurable improvements in traffic, conversion, sales, and profitability through the creative application of analytics.

The optimal candidate would be highly motivated to apply high-grade quantitative skills to a wide range of fast paced, evolving business challenges.

Key Work Performed:

Sales Management and Analytics

  • Daily/Weekly execution of sales and marketing related initiatives

  • Develop and maintain financial forecasts and reporting/tracking capabilities

  • Includes leading weekly sales meetings with key accounts and provides actionable insights to improve the business or customer experience

  • Insights and Trends: Traffic, Conversion, Revenue, and POS sales by sku, product/category or product group. 

  • Business analysis including: marketplace/share, competitive assessment, volume builds, capacity assessment, promotion evaluation, SKU rationalization, pricing/sizing analysis, and market research analysis and implications.

  • Communicates regularly with Cross-Functional Partners, Brand Marketing, and Vendor Managers

  • Inventory Planning: Triangulation analysis with POS, retailer inventory, and future replenishment forecasting

  • Sales opportunity analysis, order recommendations leveraging data and insights

  • Margin Analysis : View of how business is performing including GMROI/Margin by item, by category

Project Management

  • Pre-season analysis:  Lead ready for season tasks.  Catalog, assortment analysis, new products, forecasting, content.

  • Item transition management:  Data mapping and process focused on clean item changes, transitions, or new product launches.

  • Identify process improvement opportunities

Marketing campaign and promo analysis

  • Provide detailed calendar of events, promotions, marketing activities 

  • Draw trends, conclusions, solutions, and report out
    Digital marketing analytics, metric reporting

  • Competitive insights and metrics

  • Adhoc Analysis to uncover opportunities and resolve issues to drive sales.

  • Market share, traffic, and conversion analysis

  • Item or category level POS history and analysis

  • Create solutions with outside-the-box thinking 

  • Opportunity analysis - new items, new segments, promotions…help quantify.

Content & Catalog Management

  • Leverage automation to manage online catalog, including auditing and health

  • Utilize tools to develop and maintain financial forecasting and tracking 

  • Develop solutions and ideas around product concepts designed for eCommerce

  • Partner with content team to drive improvement and prioritization

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Data scientist, Data Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Marketing, Information Systems, Finance

  • Experience in Data Management, eCommerce, Analytics, Reporting Automation, Digital Sales, Marketing

  • Strong Quantitative, Qualitative analytics experience in either a retail or consumer products environment

  • Experience leading or developing processes and projects to drive improvement, sales, profitability, or other key KPI’s in supporting initiatives

  • Experience with large data sets, A/B Testing, AI/ML, pricing analytics, econometrics, market research, data modeling

  • Technical Experience - Amazon and other retailer platforms, SQL, Tableau, Python/R, Data Warehousing, Excel ETL automation

  • Skill set that includes presentation, communication, leadership, and cross functional collaboration in fast paced team environment

The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $87,600.00 - $103,100.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.In addition to the determined base salary, this role is also incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs.For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.
