    Elementary Principal

    This posting is intended to create a pool of qualified elementary principal candidates for anticipated openings for the upcoming school year. Placement will be determined based on district needs and may occur at any elementary school site.

     

    Position Summary:

    The principal is responsible for setting the vision for achieving and sustaining high levels of student achievement and strategically implementing the school's mission through effective leadership of all stakeholders, including faculty, staff, student, parents, and the community. The principal oversees all aspects of the instructional program, school environment and the operational / fiscal health of the school.

     

    Essential Duties:

    Great Teaching & Learning (Instructional Infrastructure):

    Focus: Instructional leadership, data use, curriculum coherence, and student achievement

    • Serve as the instructional leader by articulating and advancing a clear vision focused on sustained student achievement.
    • Observe instructional practices and learning materials to evaluate curriculum effectiveness and identify improvement needs.
    • Model and promote continuous use of data to inform instruction, interventions, and decision-making.
    • Provide ongoing professional development grounded in school data, research-based practices, and instructional priorities.
    • Evaluate teacher instructional practice, classroom management, and professional growth to strengthen instructional effectiveness.
    • Ensure alignment and consistency of curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices across grade levels.

    Focus: Staff development, evaluation, collaboration, and accountability

    • Manage personnel through effective delegation, strategic planning, and performance evaluation.
    • Provide clear, actionable feedback and targeted supports to strengthen teacher effectiveness.
    • Identify high- and low-effectiveness performers and implement differentiated coaching and support strategies.
    • Foster collective staff accountability for achieving high levels of student success.
    • Develop staff capacity through job-embedded professional learning and leadership opportunities.

    Focus: Operations, compliance, resource management, and organizational effectiveness

    • Oversee fiscal, human capital, facilities, and operational resources to support instructional priorities and student achievement goals.
    • Ensure compliance with district policies, procedures, and accountability expectations.
    • Assess school needs and coordinate planning to support a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment.
    • Maintain continuity of services during emergencies or disruptions, including alternative worksite expectations when required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned in support of district goals and accountability structures.

     

    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):

    • Master's Degree in Education Administration from an accredited institution.
    • Valid Oklahoma Administrator Certificate appropriate for the elementary level.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience, including at least two (2) years of demonstrated leadership experience in an elementary school setting.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of current issues, research, principles, and practices in public elementary education and the ability to apply them to school improvement efforts.
    • Demonstrated commitment to the belief that all students can learn and to advancing educational equity.
    • Ability to establish a clear vision, build collaborative teams, and achieve measurable results in the face of challenges.
    • Experience in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
    • Record of success in leading adults; prior experience with personnel recruitment, selection, training, management, labor relations and supervision.
    • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
    • Keen ability to use data in the decision making process and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience fostering positive school climate and student-centered culture
    • Experience engaging families and community partners
    • Ability to continuously elevate professional contributions through ongoing reflection, building upon previous learning and being open and receptive to ongoing feedback.

     

    *Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education at a 2:1 ratio.  Therefore for every 1 year of college lacking, 2 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted.

     

    Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):

    • Experience managing school budgets and operational systems

     

    Physical/Mental Requirements:   

    • Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.
    • Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.
    • Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.
    • Physical agility, able to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, walk, reach and climb stairs.
    • Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds.
    • Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
    • May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes. stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.

     

     Work Environment:  

    • Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate controlled environment.
