JOB SUMMARY



 



Freres Engineered Wood is offering two Summer Internship positions in the Fabrication



Shop. These internships provide an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with



industrial wood manufacturing equipment and other related processes. The first position



will focus on participating in all aspects of fabrication and gaining insight into how



fabricated parts are used across different departments. The second position will involve



inventorying, labeling, data entry, organizing, and other supporting tasks. Depending on



skills and knowledge exhibited, there may be opportunities for additional work within the



Fabrication and Machine shop for both positions.



 



 



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS




  • Learn and assist in reading technical drawings for fabrication of industrial wood manufacturing equipment.

  • Perform and assist in material layout using framing squares, combination squares, tape measurers, and levels.

  • Operate tools and machinery including bandsaws, plasma cutters, CNC plasma cutting table, and more.

  • Learn to work with a variety of materials including metal, wood, plastic, and plexiglass.

  •  Assist with the assembly and fabrication of large industrial machinery like conveyors, stairs, and augers.

  • Practice welding skills in multiple processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW).

  • Develop skills in pipe welding for hydraulic systems and the layout and installation of hydraulic piping.

  • Assist with equipment removal and installation, including chippers, conveyors robots, etc.

  • Learn about mill production and efficiency improvements.

  • Use tape measures to take accurate measurements as needed for tasks.

  • Participate in all fabrication processes and understand how parts are used in other departments such as rolling stock and machinery·

  • perform data entry, and assist with organization tasks.

  • May perform additional work experience based on skills and needs.
