    Full-Time School Counselor for 2026-2027 School Year

    E.O. Smith high school is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and thoughtful individual who can contribute to our school's mission and vision through their teaching, scholarship, and/or service to the institution. 

     The School Counseling Department is comprised of 7 full-time counselors along with related support service staff. The school counselor will work with a team of professionals providing comprehensive high school counseling to students in grades 9-12. 

     

     School Counseling

     QUALIFICATIONS: 

     Possess or be eligible for Connecticut  Educator Certificate: School Counselor (068)

     Possess qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with all stakeholders

     Demonstrate knowledge of best practices and methodologies in school counseling aligned with CCSCF & ASCA standards

     Demonstrate ability to  utilize technology and data to assess student performance

     Posses outstanding communication skills 

     Training and/or experience with college and career equity counseling

     Demonstrate understanding or have experience in providing culturally relevant counseling and instruction

     SCHOOL COUNSELOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

     Implement a developmentally appropriate school counseling program for all students

     Collaborate with families, faculty, administrators and support agencies promoting students' academic and social-emotional development

     Communicate regularly and effectively with all stakeholders

     Provide group and individual counseling services

     Write, implement and support Section 504 plans and IEPs

     Utilize student data to  identify and plan student remediation, acceleration, opportunity and intervention

     Advocate for rigorous and higher education for all students

     Actively participate in both department and school-wide professional development opportunities and school-sponsored events

     SALARY: In accordance with the agreement between the Region 19 Board of Education and the Region 19 Teacher's Association. 2026-2027 salary range $53857-$109234
