Position Overview:

Regional School District No. 1 is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to support students with communication, hearing, language, and speech disorders that interfere with their ability to access the curriculum. This position plays a critical role in providing direct and indirect services, evaluations, and collaboration with educational staff to enhance student learning.

Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group speech and language therapy services to students.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations, analyze assessment data, and develop Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives.
• Facilitate indirect services and consultation to support students in various educational settings.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers, including co-treatment and co-teaching models.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including service notes and reports.
• Participate in IEP meetings, team discussions, and professional development opportunities.
• Support students with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices as needed.
• Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and colleagues to support student success.
• Adhere to ethical, legal, and professional standards set forth by state and national guidelines.

Qualifications:

• SLP: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution
• SLPA: Associate's degree or BA degree in a related field
• Current CT licensure or certification in Speech-Language Pathology (061) required
• Experience working with children in a school setting, particularly in special education, is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and collaboration skills.

Essential Functions:

• Ability to work in a variety of school-based environments, including classrooms and therapy spaces
• Ability to move throughout school buildings and assist students as necessary
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet required timelines in a dynamic school setting
