Job Description

About the opportunity

Data and information are at the core of Swiss Re’s business and a key enabler for risk management, underwriting, and client service. A critical component of this capability is a strong and consistent Records Management (RM) framework that ensures records are governed, retained, and disposed of in line with legal, regulatory, and business requirements.

In this role, you will be part of Swiss Re's central records management team. Leading a team of records management governance specialists you will be driving the design, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of the global RM framework. You will play a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance, strengthening control environments, and embedding robust records governance practices across business, technology and the central records management team.

This is a high-impact role with exposure to senior stakeholders across Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Technology, contributing to both operational resilience and strategic transformation initiatives.

Main responsibilities for you and your team:

  • Policies, Standards & Retention Governance: Own and continuously enhance global RM policies, standards, and the retention schedule, ensuring legal defensibility and alignment with regulatory, risk, information security, and business requirements across jurisdictions.

  • Regulatory, Legal & Control Oversight: Monitor regulatory developments, provide country‑specific handling guidance, coordinate legal and compliance assessments (including regulatory inquiries), and define and oversee RM control requirements, contributing to audits, risk assessments, and remediation.

  • Advisory & Strategic Enablement: Act as a records governance SME for strategic initiatives (e.g. digital transformation, cloud, AI), ensuring regulatory and control requirements are embedded by design. Provide guidance for RM requests and decisions which need legal assessments and judgment.

About the Team

The Records Management Governance team is part of a central governance team based mostly in Bratislava with global responsibility. The team closely collaborates with record owners and stewards across the Swiss Re to ensure correct application of the policies, standards and records retention, to ensure full regulatory and legal compliance and to advice on any records specific topic. The team defines and maintains the RM framework, including policies, standards, and retention requirements, and ensures consistent implementation across the organization.

Working closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Technology, the team plays a central role in strengthening governance, supporting regulatory compliance, and enabling the effective and secure management of records across their lifecycle.

About you

You have solid experience in records management, information governance, data protection, or a related field, ideally in a regulated financial services environment. You understand regulatory expectations and control frameworks and can translate them into clear, actionable requirements; a legal background is preferred to confidently interpret regulatory frameworks across jurisdictions. You are a structured, analytical thinker, comfortable engaging senior stakeholders, working cross‑functionally, and communicating clearly. You are proactive, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and a team of experts.

Nice to have

  • Relevant certifications such as CIP, IGP, CRM, or similar

  • Experience with regulatory interactions, audits, or control frameworks (e.g., RCSA)

  • Exposure to records management in the context of digital transformation, cloud, or AI initiatives

  • Understanding of global regulatory landscapes and cross-border data handling considerations
