We are seeking a skilled VTL CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in CNC programming and machining, with a focus on Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs). This role requires a high level of precision, attention to detail, and the ability to produce complex, high-quality components according to engineering specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs) and other CNC equipment to machine large, complex parts
- Perform CNC and CAM programming to support efficient and accurate production runs
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements
- Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles in all machining processes
- Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMMs to verify part accuracy
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
- Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues as needed
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes using lean manufacturing methods
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment (including forklifts when required)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work environment
- This is a SWING SHIFT position and offer a shift differential of $4.00/hr
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist, with VTL experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency in CNC programming and familiarity with CAM software
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining principles
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience with precision measurement and inspection tools
- Basic math skills for measurements, offsets, and adjustments
- Experience with plastics injection molding or EDM is a plus
- Knowledge of welding and assembly processes is beneficial
- Forklift experience or willingness to be trained
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
