JOB SUMMARY:
The Veteran Navigator provides services to build capacity and increase outreach around the goals, service definition, and deliverables for Service Members, Veterans, and Families (SMVF). Implements harm and supply reduction strategies for all community members. Implements Lock & Talk strategies for all community members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide advocacy services for individuals with military backgrounds and their families by assisting in overcoming barriers to receiving services and by identifying gaps in services.
- Assess SMVF needs and coordinate outreach activities.
- Serve as a resource and support coordinator to link individuals to services within and outside of the Agency specific to SMVF.
- Coordinate service area initiatives related to increasing access to, and quality of, behavioral health services available for individuals with military backgrounds and their families.
- Provide outreach and coordination with Regional SMVF Navigator to develop referral sources and build capacity throughout the service area.
- Collaborate with MRCS clinical teams and administration to support the implementation of clinical services for SMVF.
- Identify, access, and provide workforce training related to military culture, as well as to provide educational materials and outreach activities. Implement harm & supply reduction strategies. Implement Lock & Talk strategies.
- Collaborate with relevant partners at the federal, state, and local levels to develop referral resources and to increase participation in suicide prevention initiatives.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Required to travel to other Agency sites, etc.
- Perform such other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge and skill in understanding assessment criteria, treatment planning, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of consumer rights and confidentiality.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to document in an Electronic Health Record.
- Ability to function and contribute as a member of a treatment team.
- Knowledge of Agency and community resources. Knowledge and skill in understanding assessment criteria, treatment planning, and evaluation.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent job-related experience, knowledge, and skills required.
Service member, veteran, or family member lived experience preferred.
Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
