Job Description

The HSE Data Systems Analyst sits within the HSE Strategy and Assurance function and is responsible for owning, optimizing, and advancing the systems and data infrastructure that underpin our HSE performance. This individual will serve as the central integrator of HSE data across multiple platforms—including incident management systems, fleet telematics, and industrial hygiene/safety monitoring technologies—and transform that data into actionable insights for operations, executive leadership, and the Board. The ideal candidate combines strong technical systems ownership with advanced analytics capability and a demonstrated ability to apply modern AI tools to drive efficiency, visualization, and insight generation.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

HSE Systems Ownership and Integration

  • Serve as the primary owner and administrator for core HSE systems, including: 
    • KPA (system of record for incident management and compliance)
    • Fleet telematics platforms
    • Gas detection and monitoring systems
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and standardization across platforms
  • Drive system integration and interoperability to enable seamless data flow and reporting
  • Partner with IT, Operations, and field teams to optimize system performance and user adoption

Data Analytics and Insight Generation

  • Analyze HSE data to identify trends, leading indicators, and emerging risks
  • Develop predictive and proactive insights to support injury prevention and risk reduction
  • Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable recommendations for operations leadership
  • Identify and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with corporate HSE strategy

AI Enablement and Advanced Tool Development

  • Apply AI tools (e.g., large language models such as Claude or similar platforms) to: 
    • Automate data processing and reporting workflows
    • Develop dashboards, visualizations, and internal tools
    • Enhance trend analysis and pattern recognition
  • Continuously evaluate and pilot emerging technologies to improve HSE data capabilities
  • Serve as a thought partner in advancing digital and AI strategy within HSE

Reporting and Communication

  • Develop and maintain reporting packages for: 
    • Field and business unit leadership
    • Executive management
    • Board-level HSE reporting
  • Build intuitive dashboards and visualization tools to improve data accessibility and decision-making
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and clarity in all HSE communications and reporting outputs

Strategic Support

  • Support HSE Strategy and Assurance initiatives through data-driven insights
  • Assist in benchmarking, internal audits, and performance reviews
  • Contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives related to operational excellence and risk management

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in upstream oil and gas operations and HSE systems (e.g., KPA or similar platforms)
  • Familiarity with fleet telematics and industrial safety monitoring systems
  • Experience applying AI/ML tools or large language models (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) in a business environment
  • Experience building automated workflows, dashboards, or lightweight applications
  • Knowledge of leading and lagging HSE indicators, PSIF/SIF frameworks, and risk-based analytics

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, HSE, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in data systems, analytics, or digital roles (energy industry preferred)
  • Experience managing and administering enterprise systems and datasets
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize large datasets into meaningful insights
  • Demonstrated experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
