Job Description

Supervisor:   Principal / Director & Assistant Director of Special Education
Salary:   Per Collective Bargaining Agreement, 2024-2028 Contract Extension (with salary schedule) & Benefits
Work Year:  2026-2027; first day of school - August 17, 2026

Summary:  Under the general supervision of the Principal and Director of Special Education, plan for and implement special education services for students who have been found eligible.

Qualifications / Experience

  • ISBE PEL with LBSI endorsement, required
  • Additional endorsements, preferred
  • Experience providing modifications to increase student access to grade-level curriculum
  • Expertise in a variety of intervention tools and specially designed instruction methods
  • An interest and/or experience working with students with varying levels/types of disabilities.
  • Expertise in conducting educational assessments, including CBMs, FBAs, and BIPs, determining eligibility for services, and developing individualized education plans.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with others to optimize student achievement in the least restrictive environment.
  • A willingness to participate in staff development opportunities.
  • A strong commitment to professional excellence and equal access for all students to the greatest extent possible.

  • Assist in creating an exemplar learning community where everyone seeks and implements strategies for improving student achievement and growth. 
  • Works collaboratively in professional learning communities to achieve goals with a common purpose focused on student learning.
  • Builds trust and confidence with students
  • Instructs individuals and groups based on IEP goals
  • Monitors student progress in and outside resource room
  • Modifies curriculum if needed
  • Maintains contact with parents of students to report progress towards IEP goals

Prepares educational records and IEP forms
