Job Description

TITLE:                        QA ENGINEER



FLSA STATUS:          EXEMPT



REPORTS TO:          SR. MANAGER, QUALITY ASSURANCE



SUMMARY:



Under the direction of the Sr. Manager of QA, the QA Engineer, will be responsible for ensuring the quality of various products currently in production as well as prototype products for magnetic recording heads, including monitoring processes and test parameters using Statistical Process Control (SPC) as well as analyzing data and providing reports to the manufacturing teams. The QA Engineer will be responsible for determining the root cause and performing failure analysis for yield and performance-related issues, and recommending corrective action.  This position is located in Milpitas, California.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:




  • Reviews and monitors quality of various high volume and newly launched products

  • Reviews and analyzes data using SPC, creates reports, and presents findings; recommends corrective action as needed

  • Collaborates with other product engineering groups regarding process-related issues and product requirements to ensure customer specifications for reliability and performance are met

  • Reviews and analyzes backend magnetic performance data and creates reports regarding performance/correlation and provides feedback to design and manufacturing teams

  • Conducts complex failure analysis testing to isolate detractors to yield and performance; may recommend corrective action

  • Reviews the changes related to wafer processes and the integration scheme including process characterization

  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures as required
