ASRC Federal NetCentric is seeking a Safety & Health Engineer at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

Job Summary:
Responsible for assisting the Project Director and Performance Assurance Manager in fostering a safe and healthy workplace. Must possess skills and
knowledge of concepts and principles in the management of safety and occupational health programs. This is an on-site, mission essential position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and execute a safety and health program compliant with all applicable OSHA Standards, Space Force Instructions, and contract
    requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive and detailed inspections of workplaces, equipment, and tools to identify hazards and/or noncompliant
    conditions.
  • Perform, or assist in conducting safety assessments to identify the need for Personal Protective Equipment, Training, Medical
    Surveillance.
  • Develop policies and administrative procedures to mitigate risk and maintain a high level of safety awareness.
  • Prepare and conduct safety and health training presentations and keep accurate training documentation.
  • Respond to customer concerns in a timely manner consistently demonstrating tact and professionalism.
  • Investigate mishaps and near misses to identify cause and corrective actions, as well as opportunities for improvement.
  • Enter safety and health data into information management systems. Create documents, spreadsheets and presentation using
    Microsoft Office applications.
  • Foster amenable working relationships with shop personnel, communicate safety and health policies and address employee
    concerns.
  • Keep management informed of trends, inspection results, unsafe conditions, and other key indicators of program health.
    Monitor hazardous operations and complex crane lifts to ensure strict adherence to safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Educational/Training Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with up to three (3) years of related experience, or an Associate’s degree in a safety-related field with two (2) to five (5) years of related experience in a full-time safety and health role. Equivalent education/experience is applicable.

  • Completion of an authorized OSHA 30-hour course in construction, and/or general industry is desirable.


Skill Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Able to identify workplace hazards and determine best course of action to effectively correct conditions.
  • Robust knowledge of material handling equipment and practices; able to monitor crane lift operations and detect any unsafe act, or noncompliant
    condition.
  • Knowledgeable of rigging, able to identify discrepancies associated with rigging equipment and/or associated documentation.
  • Proficiency in investigation of mishaps and near-miss events. Able to collect information at mishap site, interview witnesses and prepare written
    reports that identify cause and recommendations to prevent recurrence. Ability to work well with others, as well as working independently.
    Excellent verbal and written skills. Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to obtain & maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Current Florida Driver’s License

Work Environment:
Activities split between office setting and industrial environment. Some work outdoors in areas where various industrial hazards are present.
Availability to work flexible shift(s) including some weekends (infrequently). Motor vehicle driving required between work sites.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to travel among CCSFS/KSC/PSFB and other work sites, including off-base sites.
Walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs.
Ability to tolerate hot climate when working outdoors.
Ability to drive a motor vehicle.
