    Position Summary

    The Maintenance Summer Helper provides seasonal support to the Supervisor Maintenance during the summer months. This position assists with general maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of school buildings and grounds to ensure a safe, clean, and ready environment for the upcoming school year.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assist with general cleaning of classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and common areas
    • Support moving furniture, equipment, and supplies for summer projects and room setups
    • Help with minor maintenance tasks such as painting, replacing light bulbs, and basic repairs
    • Assist in grounds upkeep, including mowing, trimming, and debris removal
    • Help prepare buildings for summer programs and fall reopening
    • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines
    • Work collaboratively with maintenance staff and supervisors
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Education

    • High school student, recent graduate, or equivalent preferred

    Experience

    • No prior experience required; general knowledge of maintenance or custodial work preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks
    • Basic understanding of cleaning and maintenance tools
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Strong work ethic and reliability
    • Ability to perform physical tasks in varying weather conditions

    Working Conditions

    • Indoor and outdoor work environments
    • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, equipment, and varying temperatures
    • Requires lifting, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

    Employment Terms

    • Temporary/seasonal position (summer months only)
    • Hourly, non-exempt position
    • Work schedule determined by the Supervisor of Maintenance (Monday -Thursday:  7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) June 1, 2026 to July 31, 2026
       

    Evaluation

    Performance will be evaluated by the Supervisor of Maintenance or designee.
