Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Outpatient Nurse Manager to lead and oversee nursing staff and medical assistants (MAs) in our outpatient Behavioral Health and Primary Care departments. The Nurse Manager will ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, manage clinical operations, and foster a collaborative, supportive environment for staff and patients. This role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and the ability to integrate behavioral health and primary care services effectively.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

·         Staff Supervision and Development:

o    Oversee a team of registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and medical assistants (MAs) across Behavioral Health and Primary Care outpatient settings.

o    Recruit, onboard, and train nursing staff and MAs, ensuring competency in clinical skills and adherence to organizational policies.

o    Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement professional development opportunities for team members.

·         Clinical Operations:

o    Ensure efficient workflow and coordination between Behavioral Health and Primary Care teams to provide integrated patient care.

o    Monitor and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, and state licensure requirements.

o    Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance patient safety and care quality.

o    Manage scheduling, staffing levels, and resource allocation to meet patient demand and operational needs.

·         Patient Care Oversight:

o    Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare providers to support holistic care plans for patients.

o    Ensure nursing and MA staff deliver compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to the unique needs of behavioral health and primary care patients.

o    Address patient concerns or complaints, ensuring a positive experience and timely resolution.

·         Quality Improvement and Reporting:

o    Monitor clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and staff performance metrics.

o    Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.

o    Prepare and present reports on departmental performance to senior leadership.

·         Collaboration and Leadership:

o    Act as a liaison between nursing staff, MAs, and other departments to promote interdisciplinary teamwork.

o    Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to strategic planning for outpatient services.

o    Foster a culture of respect, empathy, and accountability within the team.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

·         Master of Science in Nursing preferred; BSN or ADN considered.

·         Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience, preference of at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

·         Experience in behavioral health and/or primary care settings is strongly preferred.

·         Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona.

  • Must be able to provide or obtain an AZDPS Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

·         Ability to be physically mobile (stand, walk, reach, climb, bend) and the ability to sit for prolonged periods throughout work hours

·         Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move 25 or more pounds

·         Must be able to respond appropriately and effectively in crisis situations by using good judgment and following Polara Health protocols
