    Position Title: High School/Middle School Drama Assistant Director

    Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our drama department as a High School/Middle School Drama Assistant Director. This position involves collaborating with the Head Drama Director in guiding and supporting students from 5th to 12th grades in their theatrical endeavors, particularly in the preparation and execution of the fall drama production. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in theatre, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to fostering creativity and growth in young performers.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Collaborate with the Head Drama Director to plan, organize, and execute all aspects of the fall drama production, including auditions, rehearsals, set design, costume creation, and technical elements.
    2. Assist in conducting auditions and casting roles for students in grades 5-12, ensuring inclusivity and fairness throughout the process.
    3. Work closely with student actors, providing guidance, feedback, and support to help them develop their performance skills and stage presence.
    4. Coordinate with other staff members and volunteers to manage backstage activities during rehearsals and performances, ensuring a smooth production process.
    5. Assist in overseeing the design and construction of sets, props, and costumes, involving students in hands-on creative projects.
    6. Help maintain a positive and inclusive rehearsal environment, promoting teamwork, respect, and collaboration among students of varying ages and experience levels.
    7. Provide assistance with administrative tasks related to the production, such as scheduling rehearsals, communicating with parents, and managing production budgets.
    8. Serve as a mentor and role model for students, fostering their passion for theatre and encouraging their personal and artistic growth.

    Qualifications:

    • Previous experience working with students in theatrical settings, such as school productions, youth theatre programs, or summer camps.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
    • Knowledge of theatre production techniques, including stagecraft, lighting, sound, and costume design.
    • Flexibility, patience, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and unforeseen challenges in a fast-paced environment.
