Occupational Therapist


 


Location: Career Center


Reports to: Special Services Director


Supervises: Occupational Therapist Aide (if assigned)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Appropriate Wyoming PTSB Certifications


 


POSITION SUMMARY


To provide quality occupational therapy services for the District


 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Evaluate and diagnose specific motor deficits of referred students in the district.

  • Prepare and submit accurate and appropriate evaluations, screenings, and reports in a professional and timely manner.

  • Design appropriate goals, objectives and timelines for appropriate school related occupational therapy services in noted deficient areas for eligible students.

  • Provide quality educational based therapy based on goals related to deficit areas.  Monitor and document student progress and communicate progress with appropriate students, staff, parents, and other members of the school based team(s).

  • Collaborate with regular classroom teachers, other specialty teachers, and related service providers in the development of a variety of strategies to meet the educational needs of special education students.

  • Assist with the development of training staff members to carry out existing therapy routines, when appropriate, for students in classroom settings.

  • Assist with the development of training parents to carry out existing therapy routines, when appropriate, for students in home settings.

  • Provide technical assistance in the repair and modification of assistive devices that may be utilized to meet the specific needs of students receiving direct occupational therapy as part of their total education program.

  • Assist with the screening activities of students.

  • Follow time schedules, attend and participate in all assigned meetings, and maintain a positive professional manner with students, parents, and staff.

  • Interact positively and appropriately with students.

  • Maintain confidentiality standards as defined by local, state, and federal rules and regulations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence.

EVALUATION


Performance on this job will be evaluated by the Special Services Director in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of certified or classified personnel.


 


SALARY SCHEDULE


This position will be paid according to the approved Licensed Professional Salary Schedule.


 


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT


School Year Calendar, unless otherwise assigned by the supervisor.

Employment is contingent on a local, state, and federal criminal background clearance.
