Job Description

The Safety Manager, as part of the Human Resources function, is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive workplace safety programs across the organization. This role ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations while fostering a culture of safety, prevention, and accountability. Reporting to the Vice President of Security & Safety, the Safety Manager partners with leadership to proactively reduce risk, support employee well-being, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage company-wide safety programs to prevent workplace injuries, incidents, and hazards 
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits; identify risks and ensure corrective actions are implemented 
  • Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and recommend preventative measures 
  • Prepare and submit required safety and accident reports in compliance with regulatory standards 
  • Deliver and track safety training programs (IIPP, emergency action plans, PPE, hazard communication, etc.) 
  • Partner with management teams to reinforce safety standards and ensure accountability across locations 
  • Monitor and ensure proper handling and removal of biological, physical, and chemical hazards 
  • Maintain OSHA compliance, including OSHA 300 logs and reporting requirements 
  • Develop and update SOPs and safety-related work instructions to align with regulatory and operational changes 
  • Perform job hazard analyses and implement controls to reduce workplace risks 
  • Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies for safety reporting and compliance 
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement by promoting employee engagement in safety initiatives 
  • Travel to company locations to conduct audits, training, and program implementation 
  • Supervises and motivates direct reporting staff by assigning duties to each employee, explaining how these duties are to be done, and communicating how the successful performance of those duties will be measured.  
  • Monitors and corrects performance issues in real time and appropriately documents issues and corrective actions. 
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has authority for personnel decisions. Manage strategic hiring, people scheduling, performance management, corrective actions, and separations. 
  • You must be able to work at least 40 hours a week. Flexible availability to work both day and night shifts plus some weekends. 
  • Perform other duties as needed in support of business objectives assigned by supervisor.
