Job Description

I. POSITION SUMMARY

 

Technical leaders concentrate on the technical aspects of the production process, verifying correct setup
and changeover, resolving production or equipment problems and reviewing quality of work.

 

 

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (The section is not intended to be an all-inclusive list
and NGK Ceramics reserves the right to include other duties as assigned):

 

A. Communicates safety discrepancies or issues to the Supervisor or Area Manager.

 

B. Assists with product changeover and set up production equipment and verifies the functionality
of safety equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices and standard
operating procedures.

 

C. Troubleshoots problems with equipment, devices, or products.

 

D. Monitors and adjusts production processes or equipment for quality and productivity.

 

E. Inspects production for quality and adherence to customer specifications.

 

F. Monitors SPC charts and uses precision measuring instruments to perform quality checks.

 

G. Maintains inventory of job materials and ensures that operators have adequate raw materials
and supplies.

 

H. Confirms the correct entry of computer input of ticket information.

 

I. Provides production, progress, or changeover reports to shift supervisors.

 

J. Writes work orders and updates journal at end of shift.

 

K. Follows company policies and enforces safety regulations.

 

L. Follows work procedures to meet production schedules.

 

M. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of
product.

 

N. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and safety
in the department.

 

O. Trains operators as needed.

 

P. Measures and records data associated with operating equipment; provides advice or training to
employees in the assigned area; and selects cleaning materials, tools, or equipment.

R. Assists engineers in developing, building, or testing prototypes or new products, processes, or
procedures.

 

S. Communicates safety discrepancies or issues to the Team Coordinator or Area Manager

 

T. Inputs maintenance work orders through Maximo system

 

U. Reviews internal email and calendar system several times per shift

 

V. Participates in PM (Preventive Maintenance), MMOL (Machine Maintenance Operator Leader),
and G5S (Global 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), and Kaizen activities, as
needed

 

W. Follows all EMS (Environmental Management System) procedures, including the disposal of
waste and used materials

 

X. This job has no supervisory responsibilities and no direct reports.

IV. REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

A. Required Education and/or Experience

 

1. Must be able to successfully complete all required job training

 

2. High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

 

3. 6 month manufacturing/warehousing experience or equivalent

 

4. CRC Bronze or above

 

B. Required Language Skills

 

1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and emergency
procedure, and maintenance instructions.

 

2. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

 

3. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers.

 

C. Required Mathematical Skills

 

1. Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals.

 

D. Required Reasoning Ability

 

1. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
where only limited standardization exists.

 

2. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
 
E. Preferred Qualifications

 

1. Fork Lift License and Pallet Jack License

 

2. Knowledge of database software; inventory software; manufacturing software; spreadsheet
software; and word processing software

 

3. Certified Production Technician program completion

VI. WORK ENVIRONMENT
 
A. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be frequently exposed to wet or humid
conditions; work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic
chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; extreme heat; and vibration.

 

B. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; and occasionally loud.

 

 

VII. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS/PPE

 

A. Safety shoes must be worn while on NGK property.

 

B. The employee will work in multiple areas and will abide by any safety requirements; hearing,
head and eye protection are required in designated areas or under prescribed work conditions.

 

C. Respirators, half mask cartridge respirators plus goggles, or full face cartridge respirators may be
required in designated areas or under prescribed work conditions.
