As a Director of Operations, you’ll manage, plan, direct and coordinate overall aircraft engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations to conform with engine original equipment manufacturer (OEM) repair and overhaul requirements as well as internal company established goals and objectives.  This includes oversite of MRO operations certified as an FAA Part 145 Repair Station covering engine and accessories product lines, test cell, specialized process equipment and operations team members.

Reports Directly To: SBU Vice President/General Manager

Direct Reports Include: Operations/Production Managers, Senior Planning Manager

What you’ll do

  • Lead and develop a competent management team across production planning, scheduling, materiel control, test/support equipment maintenance, quality control, and employee development/relations. 

  • Initiate and support continuous improvement initiatives across operational processes and support activities, including cost-saving programs and methods improvements. 

  • Oversee performance standards for production cells/service operations, coordinating with production managers to align with overall company objectives. 

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (quality, engineering, materiel, customer service, sales, finance, NPI, CI, etc.) to resolve complex issues and ensure production goals are met. 

  • Manage key performance metrics (TAT, OTD, OT, COPQ, efficiency, utilization, program margins, training, safety) and monitor operational performance, analyzing outputs, cycle times, labor, quality, staffing, facility usage, budgets, and financials. 

  • Conduct capacity planning, strategic business planning, and studies to ensure cost-effective operations while adapting to technological, regulatory, and policy changes. 

  • Formulate and implement policies, programs, and changes to machinery, equipment, production systems, and methods to maintain/improve competitiveness and profitability. 

  • Direct annual budgeting, approve expenditures, and hold operations managers accountable to the Annual Operating Plan (AOP); lead SIOP, monthly business reviews, and weekly Production & Revenue Flash and R&O meetings. 

  • Participate in management team strategic planning, goal setting, and execution; exercise authority over hiring, training, performance appraisals, promotions, discipline, health, safety, and employee relations. 

  • Conduct technical review and sign-off on internal operations work instructions and carry out special projects as assigned.

Basic Qualifications 

  • 7+ years of leadership experience in aviation and/or MRO (Maintenance Repair Overhaul) environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of industry experience and licensure/certification

  • Working knowledge of PCs in the current company operating system environment

  • Working knowledge of production management computer systems

  • Working knowledge of company instructions, company processes, administrative policies and procedures, and export compliance regulations
