Job Summary:




The Department of Cardiology Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Cardiac Catheterization Lab Director, Clinical Assistant Professor (HS). 


Functional Responsibilities



  • Operational Oversight:

    • Manage daily operations of the cardiac catheterization lab.

    • Ensure procedures are performed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with best practices.

    • Maintain high standards of patient care and procedural outcomes.



  • Staff Management:

    • Hire, train, and supervise Cath Lab personnel including nurses and technologists.

    • Foster a collaborative and professional work environment.

    • Manage staff schedules and ensure ongoing competency and education.



  • Compliance and Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure adherence to all healthcare regulations, safety protocols, and accreditation standards.

    • Lead qua/fly improvement Initiatives and monitor patient outcomes.

    • Maintain documentation and reporting for regulatory compliance.

    • Budgeting and Resource Management:

    • Develop and manage the Cath Lab's operational budget.

    • Oversea procurement and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

    • Ensure efficient use of financial and material resources.



  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with physicians, nursing leadership, and administrative teams.

    • Coordinate patient care and resolve operational issues.

    • Promote Interdisciplinary communication to enhance service delivery.



  • Leadership and Team Building:

    • Provide strong leadership and mentorship to Cath Lab staff.

    • Promote a positive work culture and professional development.

    • Lead by example in clinical excellence and ethical standards.



  • Clinical Duties:

    • Perform cardiac catheterization procedures.

    • Participate in inpatient consult rotations.

    • Participate In the cardiac catheterization call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.








Required Qualifications:





  • Medical Doctor Degree or equivalent.

  • New York State Medical Licensure.

  • Board Certified Internal Medicine.

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiology.

  • Completion of EP Fellowship.

  • BLS and/or ACLS Certification.
