Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Director of Purchasing is responsible for purchasing and management of Nivel's inventory, with a focus on maintaining the balance of inventory within budgeted guidelines while driving customer satisfaction, directing and developing the purchasing department and its employees, and increasing efficiencies to achieve company directives. Strong relationship skills are a must, with a focus on creating/sustaining positive vendor relations and building such relationships at the appropriate level.

  • Lead purchasing team of 6-8 buyers. Attract, develop, and retrain talent.
  • Plan and purchase parts, components, and raw materials from both international and domestic suppliers.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on shortfalls and surpluses. Establish processes to minimize backorders.
  • Conduct SKU-level inventory-performance analysis and create an action plan that includes the formation of order points, days-on-hand targets, and stocking schema.
  • Lead SIOP efforts across the organization. Interface with internal sales team to develop demand plans and sales forecasts for future ordering. Ensure sales and inventory plans are aligned at all times.
  • Determine corrective actions regarding invoice discrepancies.
  • Responsible for the supervision of on-site and remote staff to effectively uphold adherence towards procurement policy and procedure.
  • Responsible for the creation and implementation of policy and procedures related to the procurement processes.
  • Responsible for weekly/monthly reporting for purchasing KPI’s including DOH inventory and OTIF.
  • Work with all levels of management including the executive team on collaboration, problem-solving, and change management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 6-10 years of previous purchasing/supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment with high SKU count is required.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX is desirable.
  • Ability to query, analyze, and summarize large data sets is required and will be tested during the interview process. Comfortability using SQL is desirable.
