Job Description
Schmidt Construction part of the Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Plant Maintenance to work at our Menzer Quarry in Colorado Springs, CO. Plant Maintenance position will analyze malfunctions and repairs, rebuild, and maintain crushing, screening, and conveyor systems. This person will also perform various maintenance duties in the plant and quarry.
 
Pay: $25-32
Shift/Schedule: Night Shift 9pm-5am

Responsibilities
The Plant Maintenance Position will:
  • Services plant and equipment as needed (e.g. minor adjustments, lubrication, cutting, welding).
  • Assists with maintenance repairs as needed.
  • Complies with all company safety rules and regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Performs preventive maintenance
  • Oils, greases, and cleans machines and their parts
  • Inspects equipment to evaluate machine’s operational ability        
  • Inspects and dismantles machines and equipment to locate the causes of malfunctions and to correct the problem
  • Repairs defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system    
  • Welds and fabricates equipment and parts
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

 
Qualifications (Skills, knowledge, experience)
 
  • Ability to cut, weld, and fabricate steel
  • Ability to work from elevated platforms, catwalks or man-lifts
  • Knowledge of equipment (e.g. conveyors lines, crusher, wash plant)
  • Knowledge of materials and good mechanical ability
  • Ability to identify and assist in repair of mechanical malfunctions
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of crushing, screening, 
  • Knowledge of hydraulics
  • Advanced mechanical skills
  • Ability to manipulate tools (e.g., hand tools, power tools)
     
 
Skills
The ideal candidate will have the following:
 
  • Lifts up to 75 pounds
  • Sits, stands and walks for extended period of time

  • Occasional pushing, pulling and/or prying

  • Climbs plant, heavy equipment, ladders and scaffolding

  • Uses hands and feet to move levers and depress pedals, shovel, maneuver hand tools and equipment

  • Good visual acuity, depth perception and eye-hand coordination

  • Able to detect differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness

  • Operates motor vehicle 

  • Works in environment with noise and temperature variations
