SUMMARY
The Dispatcher is responsible for the accurate logging, coordination, and dissemination of current information across the Mountain Operations Departments and other departments as needed. Utilizing telephone, two-way radio, and electronic communication, this position facilitates clear and efficient information flow across the resort. This role also supports Risk Management efforts by assisting in developing, implementing, and maintaining risk management strategies to identify and mitigate potential risks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Coordinate and communicate Lift, Park Status, Trail openings and closures and Mountain traffic to Ski Patrol departments in the Corporation as needed. Maintain continuous communication with departments throughout the day via telephone, radio, and electronic communication.
- Maintain logs & summarize reports for Lift/Park/Trail closures.
- Notify company of Mountain Status changes and emergencies through network and text messaging systems, electronic signboards, and website.
- Coordinate weather/wind or other pertinent information to all company departments as needed.
- Maintain all logs & records of any communications made (time, date, department, person notified, message) for Lift & Mountain operations, other departments, or as required/requested.
- Provide centralized command post for all communication during such emergencies: assist in assigning personnel and equipment, record time and all communications pertaining to the emergency.
- Assist Mountain Patrol and Ski Patrol with mountain duties as needed.
- Assist Security in documentation, incident reporting, investigations, dispatching.
RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY:
- Protect the safety of self, workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.
- Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
- Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
- Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort’s Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.
- Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.
- Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK SCHEDULE
Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays, and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on business levels.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED (General Education Degree) or equivalent number of years of experience. Minimum 1 year Dispatch experience preferred. CPR/First Aid and Outdoor Emergency Care Certification preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to accurately read and make measurements.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to greet customers congenially and answer various questions about ski trails, weather and snow conditions, lift schedules and riding time, and general information about the resort and area. Read and understand manuals, safety signs, machinery control labels, warning placards and indicator panels as printed.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Excellent verbal communication skills.
REASONING ABILITY
Requires efficient problem-solving skills. Receives instruction/advice from the Mountain Patrol Manager for daily tasks. Needs to take the initiative and go out in the field and perform tasks. High independence but keeps the Mountain Patrol Manager informed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. Primarily an indoor office environment.
