Description/Role

The Office of Technology Services (OTS) was established as a means of recognizing cost savings through the consolidation of State IT assets and resources. The creation of OTS consolidated a wide variety of existing hardware platforms, operating systems, database management systems, networks, third party software, and custom applications. 

OTS leads the State’s technology procurement process in order to standardize technology over the entire organization, seek efficiencies of operations, maintenance, and scalability of new products introduced to the OTS suite of services which can eventually be offered to all in-scope agencies. 

The scope of the proposed services will include the following: 

• Power BI development and administration 
• Developing visual reports, dashboards and KPI scorecards using Power BI 
• Connecting to data sources, importing data and transforming data for Business intelligence 
• Developing, publishing and scheduling Power BI reports as per the business requirements 
• Implementing row and field level security on data 
• Integrating multiple systems and creating reports with Power BI. 
• Gathering, analyzing and documenting reporting requirements 
• Conducting unit testing and troubleshooting 
• Evaluating and improving existing BI systems 
• Developing and updating technical documentation 
• Providing and executing test and data validation plans and scripts 
• Advising, consulting, mentoring and coaching other analytic professional on standards and practices 

Skills/Experience Required

Expertise and/or relevant experience in the following areas are mandatory: 

• Experience writing advanced SQL queries in Microsoft SQL Server 3+ years 
• Experience working with Power BI 3+ years 
• Experience working with a data warehouse 2+ years 
• Experience with integrating multiple systems and creating reports with Power BI. 
• Experience with ETL processes 3+ years 
• Experience in prototyping, designing, and requirement analysis 
• Experience in data visualization and graphic design 

Expertise and/or relevant experience in the following areas are desirable but not mandatory: 

• DB2 mainframe systems 2+ years 
• Experience as a Power BI Administrator 
• AWS cloud platform experience 2+ years 
• Azure cloud platform experience 2+ years 
• Experience with existing Educational data systems at the state level 
• Experience with CAFÉ, CAPS, TIPS, BLAS, and ProDirect systems.
