    The Newport School District is seeking a qualified and highly motivated Extended School Year Coordinator for programs for students in grades K-8th. This is a leadership opportunity to support and manage the implementation of special education services during the summer months, ensuring compliance with IEPs, high-quality instruction, and smooth program operations.
     

    Responsibilities:

    • In collaboration with the Director of Student Services and Director of Curriculum and Instruction, coordinate the planning, staffing, and delivery of ESY services
    • Assist in the hiring and placement of ESY staff, including special education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and support staff.
    • Collaborate with special education case managers and service providers to ensure continuity of services.
    • Oversee daily operations at program sites, ensuring student safety, staff support, and schedule fidelity.
    • Facilitate staff training and orientation prior to program start.
    • Monitor attendance, progress, and program effectiveness; provide ongoing support to staff.
    • Communicate with families, transportation, and other departments to address needs or concerns.
    • Ensure ESY services are delivered in accordance with IEPs and applicable regulations.
    • Collect and submit necessary documentation and program data to the Special Education office.

    Qualifications:

    • Valid Special Education or Administrative Certification (or equivalent experience in special education leadership).
    • Experience working with special education students
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Experience supervising staff and managing program logistics.
    • Knowledge of IDEA, ESY eligibility, and compliance requirements.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with educators, therapists, administrators, and families.

    Work Schedule & Compensation:

    • Hours:  104 hours (includes 16 hours a week on site and 40 hours of preparation/planning time)
