Job Description
 
 
 

Job Purpose: To enthusiastically deliver first-class server and bartender hospitality for banquet events that exceed guest expectations. Consistently delivering GATE, while providing food and beverages to our guests. 

 

Server Essential Functions:

  • Complete preparations for event per BEO
  • Anticipate guests needs and respond politely to requests
  • Demonstrate proper work procedures with a sense of urgency
  • Perform all server tasks within scheduled shift time
  • Deliver the GATEway service standards and exemplify Gateway Values
  • Set up for events, carry trays, serve guests, and clean up at event conclusion
  • Preserve a healthy relationship between the Kitchen, and Conference Services staff
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety Standards at all times
  • Complete daily checklists (Tasks assigned may vary depending on event)
  • Maximize productivity by working efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Maintain inherent attention to detail

 

Bartender Essential Functions:

  • Deliver The GATEway service standards.
  • Enforce Iowa Alcohol and Beverage Laws, by checking identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
  • Serve menu items to guests
  • Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment. 
  • Stock bar with beer, wine, liquor, and related supplies such as ice, glassware, napkins, or straws.
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays.
  • Slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
  • Create drink recipes.
  • Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons.
  • Mix ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters, to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
  • Serve wine, and bottled or draft beer.
  • Monitor guest consumption in accordance with I-PACT training 
  • Responsible to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking, escalating alcohol consumption concerns to a supervisor, manger, or Manager On Duty immediately.
  • Collect payment including running credit cards and making change.
  • Balance cash receipts.
  • Complete end of the day paperwork, reports, and balancing the drawer.
  • Clean bars, work areas, and tables.

 


 

Requirements: 

 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience preferred 
  • Able to work nights and weekends
  • Must be able to squat, lift, and push at least 50 lbs. 
  • I-PACT certification preferred, must obtain after hire and keep certification valid during employment
