Cook

***The Cook position is full-time/afternoons. Some coverage of other shifts may be needed.***

St. Luke Lutheran Community - Portage Lakes, a well-known and respected Long-Term Care provider, is in search of a reliable Cook with experience in Nursing Homes/Long-Term Care to join the Dietary Team at our beautiful Portage Lakes Campus.

Our Cook is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of meals.

  • Prepare meals and/or therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus, standardized recipes, and special diet orders

  • Serve food in accordance with established schedule and portion control procedures

  • Perform cafeteria functions, including food preparation and serving

  • Set up tray line in a timely manner

  • Serve food on tray line and/or in dining rooms

  • Prepare food and supplies for the next meal according to prep sheets

  • Assist in inventorying and storing incoming food, supplies

  • Report needs to Supervisor

  • All other duties as assigned

The Cook/Baker must have at least 1 year experience in cooking for large groups of people as well as:

  • Reliability, strong attendance history (required)

  • Ability to communicate effectively, professionally and compassionately to fellow team-members, Residents, government agencies, etc (required)

  • Must be available for all shifts (required)

  • Must be able to work independently to meet deadlines (required)

  • Prior experience in a long-term care facility (highly preferred)

  • Must be at least 18 years of age (required)

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 30 pounds (required)
