The Southshore team is looking for strong operational candidates for lead positions in the Grounds/Facilities department.  These part-time (up to 30 hours/week) positions support the Supervisor with scheduling, problem solving, break coverage, and other general leadership tasks.  This is an excellent opportunity for growth, as many of our supervisory positions are filled internally.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Grounds Lead works with the team responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the lagoon’s amenities and keeping all land areas of the lagoon clean and well organized.  This includes the beaches, common areas, and buildings.  Work will be performed primarily outdoors.  This is a hands-on position, and the successful candidate will both direct and participate in tasks with his or her team.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Support the grounds team that performs the following tasks: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, managing trash, pressure washing, hosing, cleaning restroom facilities, and resetting furniture
  • Fill in for breaks and absent team members
  • Assist in creating schedules, preparing and reviewing reports, checklists, and other paperwork
  • Assessing employees’ progress: update supervisors and coach with positive reinforcement 
  • Assist staff with lifting and storing facility equipment, furniture, and products to help maintain facility and prepare for special events
  • Help maintain accurate department maintenance procedures and checklists through routine preventative maintenance logs
  • Provide excellent customer service and monitor guest feedback. Supervise and follow up on department’s guest requests and comments if required
  • Other duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma, BA or degree seeking preferred
  • Supervisory experience a plus
  • Experience in a maintenance/custodial position preferred
  • Must be available to work mornings, nights, holidays, and weekends. (Flexible schedule hours will vary)
  • Efficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously
  • Professional manner, discretion, and appearance
  • Leadership skills with the ability to direct, motivate, and communicate with staff members. The ability to adapt to change, including adherence to strict budget and labor guidelines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions for extended periods of time
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend over, stoop, reach overhead, and lift up to 50 pounds
